INVITATION: All elementary, middle school, and high school students are invited to participate in the Fun and Glory Scholastic Chess Tournament, Spring 2009.  Each participant will play in five rounds of tournament play.  Parents and other interested parties are welcome.  No charge for observers.

DIVISIONS: Plans are to group players in divisions based on age and current local rating (for participants with local ratings). 

PRIZES:  Individual trophies will be given to the best players in each age division and to those with the most improved rating.

REGISTRATION:  You may register at the door on the day of the tournament, or you may pre-register by Thursday, April 3, for a discount.  To pre-register, send an email to bradm@cadesa.com, or phone (707) 825-8793, with the following information: Name, Grade, School, and Contact Info (email or phone number).

ENTRY FEE:  Fees will be collected at registration upon arrival at the tournament.  Checks are to be made out to Jacoby Creek School.
         $15.00 per participant if not pre-registered.
         $10.00 per participant at the door if pre-registered.
         $5.00 per participant if pre-registered and bringing a digital chess clock.

TOURNAMENT RULES:  To the best of our ability, reserving our right to make exceptions, the event will be run according to the USCF Tournament Regulations.  Games will be limited to one hour.  Chess clocks will be placed on as many games as possible.

SPECTATORS:  Spectators will be allowed in the tournament hall, confined to the sidelines, to watch the action.

GENERAL INFO:  Pizza, drinks, and snacks will be available for purchase on site.  Results from the tournament will also be posted on-line.

SCHEDULE:  Final Registration: April 4, 9:15 - 9:45 am.  Play will begin as soon as pairings can be calculated.  Each round starts as soon as the pairings can be posted from the last round.  The schedule will be roughly as follows: Round 1: 9:50 am; Round 2: 10:45 am; Round 3: 11:40 am; (after extra time for lunch break) Round 4: 12:50 pm; Round 5: 1:45 pm; Awards: Following soon after completion of Round 5.
